This class is a great way to stay active, while engaging with your child and other caregivers. The format will entail a structured fitness set as well as a walk. All fitness levels are welcomed! The class is designed to help kick start your fitness journey and find a community of caregivers. Children ages 4 and under are welcomed to join their caregiver to the class. NEW! Tot & Me: Cardio & Mobility (Tuesday Class) This new class will focus on raising the heart rate for a quick and effective workout. This primarily body weight class will build strength and mobility through a variety of exercises. Similar to our Thursday class, caregivers of all levels of fitness are encouraged to come workout and bring their children (4 yrs & under). No class 4/30.Weather permitting: Fall/Spring sessions only - classes may be held outdoors at Mills Pond Park. Participants will be notified if class will be at a different location. Walks will take place in the area near park or on the trails in the surrounding area.Winter Sessions: When it becomes too cold for outdoor walks toddlers will have the opportunity to burn some energy using a variety of play equipment after the workout portion is over. Equipment: Please bring a mat, water and stroller. Canton P & R will supply light weights, but you are welcome to bring your own. Please bring toys for your children to play with when they need a break from the workout. Some, not all, exercises may include an option to have your child participate; however, child participation is not required to complete the program.Participants must be cleared to exercise by a health care provider if recently (8 weeks) postpartum.   Drop-ins welcome: We ask that each participant pre-register for a drop in class prior to attending.

Fitness MatrixThis fun beginner-to-intermediate class provides a full-body workout using multiple fitness modalities: resistance training, cardio, balance, and stretching using resistance bands, light weights, steps, POUND Ripstix®, occasional dance fitness moves, and chairs for optional standing support. Each class varies slightly, but each works all major and some minor muscle groups. Bring your own tools or we can provide them. Instructor Kathi Boratko is an Athletics and Fitness Association of America™ (AFAA) certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor and owner of FITMiX with Kathi.

Join anytime! Registration is rolling. You pick your schedule!Join the party and enjoy the health benefits of this energetic, feel good, low impact aerobic workout. This class is a total body workout set to Latin and international rhythms. We use the same music and choreography as Zumba Basic; the routines are just modified to be more gentle on your knees. No experience necessary, just a willingness to dance and have fun while logging at least 5,000 steps on your fitness tracker!Interested participants are welcome to take a FREE class on either a Tuesday or Saturday. Registration for a free class is required - see below. How it works:  Pick your schedule - purchase this flex schedule to be able to attend when it works for you. 8 class pass; classes run continuously throughout the year. Once you take 8 classes, register again to replenish your pass. Class schedule listed in the registration section below. Classes will be offered on both Tuesdays & Saturdays. 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM    Rookie Running Club - Rookie Running
For absolute beginners to those runners wanting to improve their mile times, this course is for anyone 10 years and older that wants to put a little spring in their step this spring. Runners will have 9 weeks to train with RRCA certified coach and local running mom, Monica, to run the UCONN 5k race on June 1st (race registration separate: not included in class fee). This course offers a mix of walking, running and yoga for runners to prepare to complete a 5k and feel their absolute best inside and out!Who Can Join: The program is designed for runners 10 years and older. Families, friends and running buddies are encouraged to register together! This program is a great way to keep accountable and stay on track with new friends. Please note, group training may include runs on the Farmington River Trail and around Mills Pond Park. While "buddy running" will be encouraged there will be instances when runners will not be directly supervised by the instructor. Runners may be on their own during some instances of the running program.

Welcome to Music with Miss Jean!This guitar led sing-along class consists of music and activities that keep everybody moving. Have fun playing instruments, jumping to the rhythms and learning some musical games. This class gets the kids dancing and helps them burn off some energy for nap time. Ballet for Adults & Seniorswith Bonnie FlatteryBallet is a fun way to exercise! It's all about movement and enjoying rhythm while dancing to music using ballet techniques. The advantage of dance and movement programs like ballet is that you are able to go at your own pace. Bonnie takes value in using a chair so that participants can stop and rest while continuing with their arm movements. Focus will be on body alignment, natural movements, building strength and increasing balance and stability. Through good body alignment, participants could see an improvement in posture, while strength and balance are gained through movement. This dance and gymnastics program is designed for all skill levels. Dance is such a fun environment to be in. It's a place to be you, be silly, meet new friends and have fun!! Students will be learning a variety of dance routines during Hip Hop and will be learning lots of awesome and fun gymnastics skills. This program is a great way to keep up your skills and learn new ones. Sign up today! Thank you! Hip-Hop/Gym (6-10 years old): - Session I & II are 8-week classes and there is no commitment to the recital at the end of the year. Please note, if you would like to continue into the recital sessions the costume must be ordered by December 1. - The Recital Session begins in late January. This is a longer session where participants will work on skills and choreography to be presented at the final recital. Participants who are registered for this session are automatically included in the recital. Instructor will provide additional information on recital costume (additional fee). This program is only for students who have participated in session II of Next Gen. Payment plan available for the Recital Session only. Payment plan info: A pre-set payment plan will be automatically applied to your cart at checkout. If you do not wish to use the payment plan - enter the full amount of the program under "Payment". - Recital Rehearsal June 7 - Recital June 8Combo: All sessions are 8 weeks long (exception of the final session at 9 weeks). Class will include different HIIT - high intensity interval training, along with other mobility, strength and cardio formats.  No need to worry if you're new to workout classes - modifications will be offered for many of the exercises, so you can reduce or increase the intensity as needed. This class is designed for all fitness levels, so come as you are and get ready to sweat! Not only does this class offer a time-efficient way to improve your cardiovascular fitness, it can also help you burn calories and build muscle.  Don't let a busy schedule keep you from taking care of yourself - join us and start reaping the benefits of this quick and effective workout! Children learn the basics of baseball including how to throw, catch, hit, and the positions of America’s favorite pastime; all while having fun in a safe environment.  T-ball takes place on Saturdays spread over 5 weeks in April and May at Mills Pond Park. Participants get a cool team t-shirt to keep! Parent volunteer coaches are needed, if you are interested in volunteering please call 860-693-5808 or email Kellie Faust, recreation supervisor at kfaust@townofcantonct.org.REGISTRATION DEADLINE: 3/21/24 (or earlier if registration fills)Participants must be at least 4 years old by the start date of the program. If registration is full, parents/guardians are encouraged to register on the waitlist. The waitlist does not guarantee a spot on a team. If a spot opens up or if there is enough interest for another team to be made, you will be contacted. Team requests will be taken up until the regular registration deadline. Requests will be taken into consideration, but are not guaranteed. Equipment: All players are advised to have their own gloves and sneakers/cleats. Cleats are great if you have them, but not necessary. Comfortable play/gym clothes are recommended. Canton Parks & Recreation has some bats and helmets available to share among the teams, but participants are welcomed to bring their own. If you are purchasing your own bat, any tee ball bat will be fine. The majority of Tee Ball players should use a 25" or 26" bat. The weight of the bat starts as low as 13 oz and will be as heavy as 18 oz. This class is a great way to stay active, while engaging with your child and other caregivers. The format will entail a structured fitness set as well as a walk. All fitness levels are welcomed! The class is designed to help kick start your fitness journey and find a community of caregivers. Children ages 4 and under are welcomed to join their caregiver to the class. NEW! Tot & Me: Cardio & Mobility (Tuesday Class) This new class will focus on raising the heart rate for a quick and effective workout. This primarily body weight class will build strength and mobility through a variety of exercises. Similar to our Thursday class, caregivers of all levels of fitness are encouraged to come workout and bring their children (4 yrs & under). No class 4/30.Weather permitting: Fall/Spring sessions only - classes may be held outdoors at Mills Pond Park. Participants will be notified if class will be at a different location. Walks will take place in the area near park or on the trails in the surrounding area.Winter Sessions: When it becomes too cold for outdoor walks toddlers will have the opportunity to burn some energy using a variety of play equipment after the workout portion is over. Equipment: Please bring a mat, water and stroller. Canton P & R will supply light weights, but you are welcome to bring your own. Please bring toys for your children to play with when they need a break from the workout. Some, not all, exercises may include an option to have your child participate; however, child participation is not required to complete the program.Participants must be cleared to exercise by a health care provider if recently (8 weeks) postpartum.   Drop-ins welcome: We ask that each participant pre-register for a drop in class prior to attending.

This class is a great way to stay active, while engaging with your child and other caregivers. The format will entail a structured fitness set as well as a walk. All fitness levels are welcomed! The class is designed to help kick start your fitness journey and find a community of caregivers. Children ages 4 and under are welcomed to join their caregiver to the class. NEW! Tot & Me: Cardio & Mobility (Tuesday Class) This new class will focus on raising the heart rate for a quick and effective workout. This primarily body weight class will build strength and mobility through a variety of exercises. Similar to our Thursday class, caregivers of all levels of fitness are encouraged to come workout and bring their children (4 yrs & under). No class 4/30.Weather permitting: Fall/Spring sessions only - classes may be held outdoors at Mills Pond Park. Participants will be notified if class will be at a different location. Walks will take place in the area near park or on the trails in the surrounding area.Winter Sessions: When it becomes too cold for outdoor walks toddlers will have the opportunity to burn some energy using a variety of play equipment after the workout portion is over. Equipment: Please bring a mat, water and stroller. Canton P & R will supply light weights, but you are welcome to bring your own. Please bring toys for your children to play with when they need a break from the workout. Some, not all, exercises may include an option to have your child participate; however, child participation is not required to complete the program.Participants must be cleared to exercise by a health care provider if recently (8 weeks) postpartum.   Drop-ins welcome: We ask that each participant pre-register for a drop in class prior to attending.

Fitness MatrixThis fun beginner-to-intermediate class provides a full-body workout using multiple fitness modalities: resistance training, cardio, balance, and stretching using resistance bands, light weights, steps, POUND Ripstix®, occasional dance fitness moves, and chairs for optional standing support. Each class varies slightly, but each works all major and some minor muscle groups. This class is a total body workout set to Latin and international rhythms. We use the same music and choreography as Zumba Basic; the routines are just modified to be more gentle on your knees. No experience necessary, just a willingness to dance and have fun while logging at least 5,000 steps on your fitness tracker!Interested participants are welcome to take a FREE class on either a Tuesday or Saturday. Registration for a free class is required - see below. How it works:  Pick your schedule - purchase this flex schedule to be able to attend when it works for you. 8 class pass; classes run continuously throughout the year. 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM    Rookie Running Club - Rookie Running
For absolute beginners to those runners wanting to improve their mile times, this course is for anyone 10 years and older that wants to put a little spring in their step this spring. Runners will have 9 weeks to train with RRCA certified coach and local running mom, Monica, to run the UCONN 5k race on June 1st (race registration separate: not included in class fee). This course offers a mix of walking, running and yoga for runners to prepare to complete a 5k and feel their absolute best inside and out!Who Can Join: The program is designed for runners 10 years and older. Families, friends and running buddies are encouraged to register together! This program is a great way to keep accountable and stay on track with new friends. Please note, group training may include runs on the Farmington River Trail and around Mills Pond Park. While "buddy running" will be encouraged there will be instances when runners will not be directly supervised by the instructor. Runners may be on their own during some instances of the running program.

Welcome to Music with Miss Jean!This guitar led sing-along class consists of music and activities that keep everybody moving. Have fun playing instruments, jumping to the rhythms and learning some musical games. This class gets the kids dancing and helps them burn off some energy for nap time. Looking for a quick and effective workout? Join us for a fusion fitness class! In just 40 minutes, you'll work the whole body and get your heart rate pumping with varying intervals of intense cardio and strength exercises paired with active recovery. Class will include different HIIT - high intensity interval training, along with other mobility, strength and cardio formats.  No need to worry if you're new to workout classes - modifications will be offered for many of the exercises, so you can reduce or increase the intensity as needed. This class is designed for all fitness levels, so come as you are and get ready to sweat! This class is a great way to stay active, while engaging with your child and other caregivers. The format will entail a structured fitness set as well as a walk. All fitness levels are welcomed! The class is designed to help kick start your fitness journey and find a community of caregivers. Children ages 4 and under are welcomed to join their caregiver to the class. NEW! Tot & Me: Cardio & Mobility (Tuesday Class) This new class will focus on raising the heart rate for a quick and effective workout. Each class varies slightly, but each works all major and some minor muscle groups. For absolute beginners to those runners wanting to improve their mile times, this course is for anyone 10 years and older that wants to put a little spring in their step this spring. Runners will have 9 weeks to train with RRCA certified coach and local running mom, Monica, to run the UCONN 5k race on June 1st (race registration separate: not included in class fee). This course offers a mix of walking, running and yoga for runners to prepare to complete a 5k and feel their absolute best inside and out!Who Can Join: The program is designed for runners 10 years and older. Families, friends and running buddies are encouraged to register together! This program is a great way to keep accountable and stay on track with new friends. Please note, group training may include runs on the Farmington River Trail and around Mills Pond Park. While "buddy running" will be encouraged there will be instances when runners will not be directly supervised by the instructor. Runners may be on their own during some instances of the running program.

Walks will take place in the area near park or on the trails in the surrounding area.Winter Sessions: When it becomes too cold for outdoor walks toddlers will have the opportunity to burn some energy using a variety of play equipment after the workout portion is over. Equipment: Please bring a mat, water and stroller. Canton P & R will supply light weights, but you are welcome to bring your own. Please bring toys for your children to play with when they need a break from the workout. Some, not all, exercises may include an option to have your child participate; however, child participation is not required to complete the program.Participants must be cleared to exercise by a health care provider if recently (8 weeks) postpartum.   Drop-ins welcome: We ask that each participant pre-register for a drop in class prior to attending.

Beyond the Bell has scheduled activities and crafts throughout the afternoon that will allow your child time to do everything from completing homework to playing games with their friends!Beyond the Bell is offered Monday-Friday at Cherry Brook Primary School. The program runs from school dismissal until 6:00pm on regular days and 5:30pm on half days. Please make sure your child has an extra snack and a refillable water bottle. Beyond the Bell is not offered during school vacations or on holidays and snow days. Snow/Weather PolicyBeyond the Bell will not be offered on any weather related early dismissals or snow days.Half Days & No School DaysBeyond the Bell is offered on scheduled half days and no school days, however must be signed up for separately. This means that if you have signed your child up for after school days at Beyond the Bell you still must sign them up separately for any half days or no school days happening during that month. This class is a great way to stay active, while engaging with your child and other caregivers. The format will entail a structured fitness set as well as a walk. All fitness levels are welcomed! The class is designed to help kick start your fitness journey and find a community of caregivers. Children ages 4 and under are welcomed to join their caregiver to the class. NEW! Tot & Me: Cardio & Mobility (Tuesday Class) This new class will focus on raising the heart rate for a quick and effective workout. This primarily body weight class will build strength and mobility through a variety of exercises. Similar to our Thursday class, caregivers of all levels of fitness are encouraged to come workout and bring their children (4 yrs & under). No class 4/30.Weather permitting: Fall/Spring sessions only - classes may be held outdoors at Mills Pond Park. Participants will be notified if class will be at a different location. Walks will take place in the area near park or on the trails in the surrounding area.Winter Sessions: When it becomes too cold for outdoor walks toddlers will have the opportunity to burn some energy using a variety of play equipment after the workout portion is over. Equipment: Please bring a mat, water and stroller. Canton P & R will supply light weights, but you are welcome to bring your own. Please bring toys for your children to play with when they need a break from the workout. This class is a great way to stay active, while engaging with your child and other caregivers. The format will entail a structured fitness set as well as a walk. All fitness levels are welcomed! The class is designed to help kick start your fitness journey and find a community of caregivers. Children ages 4 and under are welcomed to join their caregiver to the class. NEW! Tot & Me: Cardio & Mobility (Tuesday Class) This new class will focus on raising the heart rate for a quick and effective workout. This primarily body weight class will build strength and mobility through a variety of exercises. Similar to our Thursday class, caregivers of all levels of fitness are encouraged to come workout and bring their children (4 yrs & under). No class 4/30.Weather permitting: Fall/Spring sessions only - classes may be held outdoors at Mills Pond Park. Participants will be notified if class will be at a different location. Walks will take place in the area near park or on the trails in the surrounding area.Winter Sessions: When it becomes too cold for outdoor walks toddlers will have the opportunity to burn some energy using a variety of play equipment after the workout portion is over. Equipment: Please bring a mat, water and stroller. Canton P & R will supply light weights, but you are welcome to bring your own. Please bring toys for your children to play with when they need a break from the workout. The program runs from school dismissal until 6:00pm on regular days and 5:30pm on half days. Please make sure your child has an extra snack and a refillable water bottle. Beyond the Bell is not offered during school vacations or on holidays and snow days. Bus Seat LimitationsDue to C.I.S. students having to travel to Cherry Brook to attend Beyond the Bell, we have a strict maximum for the number of C.I.S. students able to attend Beyond the Bell this year. We can only have 8 C.I.S. students attend Beyond the Bell this year. With that in mind, please do not wait until the last minute to sign your child(ren) up for Beyond the Bell. Due to these bus seat limitations, we will also not be offering the single date or part time option for C.I.S. students. C.I.S. students must attend Beyond the Bell full time.Snow/Weather PolicyBeyond the Bell will not be offered on any weather related early dismissals or snow days.Half Days & No School DaysBeyond the Bell is offered on scheduled half days and no school days, however must be signed up for separately. This means that if you have signed your child up for after school days at Beyond the Bell you still must sign them up separately for any half days or no school days happening during that month. In just 40 minutes, you'll work the whole body and get your heart rate pumping with varying intervals of intense cardio and strength exercises paired with active recovery.
